Purpose
The purpose of Stichting Space Court Foundation (the “Stichting”) is to promote space law and policy education and research, while supporting the rule of law and exerting a significant positive influence on society and the environment in general.
Fundraising
Fundraising for the Stichting‘s operations comes exclusively from gifts, donations, and grants both public and private.
The Stichting continues for an unlimited time and is a completely independent legal entity. It is not controlled by any commercial entity or governmental interest. The Stichting is party to a Cooperation Charter Agreement with Space Court Foundation US, from which it receives grants and other support.
Role of the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the Stichting are unpaid. Board Members contribute their time, expertise, and other resources, including financial support, to the Stichting. The Board determines the strategic direction of the Stichting, its annual budget, and approves any allocation of funds for major initiatives.
Management
The Managers are nominated by the Board for an unlimited period and are responsible for the operation of the Stichting; they are authorized to perform legal transactions on behalf of the Stichting. The Management consists of the Executive Director (Jonathan Kaley-Isley), the Deputy Executive Director (Charlie JP Bennett), and an independent Treasurer (Christopher Hearsey).
In their decisions, the Managers take into account the social, economic, environmental, legal and other consequences of the activities of the Stichting with regard to the communities and society in which the Stichting conducts its activities and the local and global environment.
Financial / Accounting
Funds are distributed exclusively for the support of the organizational mission. Board members are not paid, however officers may receive compensation as approved by the Board. Funds received through grants may have restricted disbursement requirements.
The financial year of the Stichting is the same as the calendar year. The treasurer closes the books of the Stichting on the last day of the financial year. The Stichting currently has no assets, however financial reports will be posted here in future as required under Dutch law.
